Marks on the body
Hybrid book from the writer and visual artist Nadja Voss, released in 2013. A single copy of 7.87 x 10.6 (in), with 90 individual sheets, each with a short story or poem, inside of a Shiho Shitsu leather box. The main material used was paper, white ones with 150m/g2 (Verge, marbled, plane, eggshell) as base for textures and compositions, or pre-textured, shining, translucent, japoneses, handmade, i.a. Others main material were acrylic plaster, molding paste, acrylic paints and watercolors, papercuts, collages and photographies. Alternative materials were used for specific pages, as flower core, dry emboss, crackle, ropes, fake iron, plaster, eyelashes, cloves, drawing, sewing, semi-manual writing and dry leaves.
The second edition, available here, is a reproduction of the first. The pages were photographed in archive style, and the box’s handling in stop motion, in a manner that, in the virtual edition, the reader can open the box, and interact with the sheets. Accompanies the book a video, the manuscripts, and an essay about the creation process and the creation diary (in portuguese). The reader also gets an eBook (ePub in english and portuguese) for offline reading.
